Horsham-based female personal trainer, Becky, works at an independent gym. Clients are seen one-to-one, and she has specialist qualifications in cancer exercise and exercise for COPD. Becky’s experience also allows her to shine with clients who are lacking in confidence in the gym environment, as well as those who have a rocky relationship with exercise. Read on to find out more…

I’m away next week! This isn’t (quite) a humblebrag, but rather a “please bear with me!”. I’m a one-woman orchestra and so, when I stop, the whole thing does – here’s what’s going on for the rest of the month…

Rest is important
I regularly tell my clients that they need to prioritise rest both between sessions and on a deeper level. I’d be a poor example if I weren’t practicing that myself. I had a full week off in October, and I’m pretty much doing the same at the end of the month. I’m taking myself away for a trip, during which time I’m going to politely ignore anything business-related…

I’ll have an autoreply for my emails, letting people know when I’m likely to respond. Existing clients are welcome to contact me via WhatsApp, but I will most likely just reply when I’m back home. Personal training isn’t an emergency service! I appreciate that those clients may be doing their best to honour my cancellation policy, which I’m mindful of and will honour in return.

Booking personal training sessions
When I’m back at work, I am available to take on new clients – I work on Tuesdays and Fridays in Horsham, or nearby if you’d like to train at home. All you need to do in order to get started is send me an email. We’ll begin with a free, no obligation consultation which will give us a chance to get to know each other and check that we’d be comfortable working together. I am to book people in for these as soon as is mutually convenient – when you’ve got to the point of asking about personal training, most people want to get started quickly, whilst the desire is there, so I try my hardest to help with this by doing consultations either face to face or via phone.

As well as getting to know each other, a consultation helps me to learn more about what you’re looking for – what type of session you’ll enjoy, any injuries or other issues we need to work around, and what else will help you to succeed in getting what you want out of sessions. Goals are always a client’s choice – I don’t set those for you, as it’s up to you what you want to achieve, my job is the helping to get you there part. You also don’t have to be aiming at something specific. In fact, very few of my clients are training for a particular event or competition, they come in order to get stronger and more confident.

If you decide at the end of the consultation that you’d like to book in, I’ll have my diary ready! If you need more time to think about it, that’s also fine.

After your first session
Whether, or how frequently you book more sessions is entirely up to you. Occasionally, people decide it’s not for them and that’s ok. If you’d like to book in again, I’ll be happy to do that for you – I have clients who see me weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, based on their requirements and their budget. I know that all of this matters, so I don’t dictate how often my clients see me, that’s up to you.

If you’d like an idea of what my clients think, you can read their reviews here. And if you’re ready to get in touch, click here and I’ll reply once I’m back from my break!
