Horsham-based female personal trainer, Becky, only recommends products that she’s tried and tested herself. Recently, she’s partnered with a protein powder brand – read on to find out more…
A personal trainer supporting a protein powder brand may seem a little “florals for Spring”, but this is something that I’ve chosen to do having tried several varieties over the years. So why this one and why now? I’ll tell you…
Do I need to use protein powder?
The fitness industry loves to overcomplicate stuff, and often it’s because someone has a product to sell. When I first started going to the gym – several years before I even contemplated becoming a personal trainer – protein powder was something that I quickly decided to experiment with. As a newbie, I was struggling with post-workout muscle soreness (aka DOMS), and whilst I had adapted my diet to try and better suit my needs, it did seem wise to try a convenient way of increasing my protein intake.
I quickly noticed a positive change – the soreness was much reduced, and so I continued to have a simple protein shake of just powder and water after each workout. Several years further down the road and with my body starting to seem perimenopausal, I added creatine to the mix, and it remains that straightforward now.
Protein powder can be convenient due to the way you use it – many of us lead busy lives that involve rushing from the gym to work (or vice versa), and so to have a drink that helps you along the way, rather than having to find yet more food to cram in can be helpful. Powder is easy to store at home, readily available, comes in a number of flavours, and is reasonably affordable – wins all round.
What’s different about Protein & Fibre?
Over the course of nine years, I’d previously used two protein powder brands, one of which is a massive name that you’d likely recognize. During the last couple of years, a few more brands have entered the market, focusing on a shorter ingredient list and a more “natural” approach. Traditionally, protein powders use a number of additives that some people find cause discomfort.
I saw adverts for Protein & Fibre, and wondered whether the hype was worth believing. I have focused on digestive function this year, so the fibre element appealed to me, and I eventually decided to give the brand a try when I ran low on my usual product. I bought and paid for a variety pack of all four flavours, and began to work my way through them.
Review of Protein & Fibre
Initial impression when I made a shake was that this product performed similarly to the others I’ve tried in the past – it mixes easily with water. It tasted great too, and then I did soon notice what I hadn’t spotted before, which was that the fibre element did make a positive difference. This was one of those situations where the impact of my previous choice had been subtle on me, but that once I swapped, I recognised an improvement.
I quickly knew that I was going to stick with the brand, and decided that I wanted to share the benefit I’d found with others, so opted to join their affiliate programme before placing my next order. Regular readers will be aware that I don’t go looking for new products to sell every week: I’m a proud ambassador for NIXI Body having tried their products for myself and worked with them for several years now. Adding Protein & Fibre to my list of endorsed products brings the grand total of brands I have paid partnerships with to… two.
